I have lived and worked in London, Devon and Cornwall and exhibited in Greenwich, Exeter, Totnes and Penzance. My work includes etchings, oil paintings, mixed media, collage, abstract textiles and embroidery. I also write poetry, make handmade cards and posters for any occasion. I sell my art work and regularly undertake commissioned work.
My art is an expression and translation of my internal contemplative journey of life and faith, communicated and personified through nature, the elements and symbolism. I am inspired by love, hope, faith, mystery and beauty and enjoy using all mediums intuitively and boldly yet with discipline and sensitivity.
I passionately believe everyone is creative and should have the opportunity to explore or discover this, becoming the best they can be in whatever path they choose and to enjoy the life of learning.
Alongside my work as an artist, I have always worked with children, young people and adults of all ages, abilities and cultures using art as a tool for communicating, breaking down barriers of language or other, to build confidence, encourage self awareness and to help to empower individuals and groups, especially those who, for a variety of reasons, may feel marginalised or struggle with trauma, illness, language, alienation, Dyslexia and other disabilities. I have worked in counselling and coordinating roles within the private and voluntary sectors, health and education, followed by working as a lecturer and coordinator in Further and Adult Education, creating and delivering a wide variety of courses and workshops for large and small groups, in diverse multicultural urban areas and in rural communities also.
With my previous broad experience and qualifications as a backdrop, I now enjoy creating and delivering a variety of inclusive workshops for groups and tutoring individuals of all ages and abilities, using a wide range of stimulating resources and individualised teaching styles, often meeting the needs that formal institutions of learning and development are unable to address.
