About Ruth

Picture
I am an artist based, at present, in Cornwall and sell my Art work, some of which is in this gallery.

I regularly undertake commissions for all art work (large and small paintings, figurative and abstract, collage and textiles, nudes and portraits, cards to meet all occasions on request, spiritual meditation packs and posters) bespoke.

I enjoy my own company and creating art is as part of my life as breathing, day dreaming and wandering about on beaches or in beautiful buildings. However, I am also a lover of the social round, the vitality of youth, the fragility and tenderness of the human condition. We are all alone and yet we all desire belonging.  The Workshops and Tuition I run are for me, a feast of shared joy and belonging that challenge, inspire and bring us all new ideas and opportunities. I cannot separate the active from the contemplative, the human from the divine.

Although I am based in Cornwall, I work countrywide running a variety of Workshops sometimes independently and sometimes affiliated to organisations, agencies, charities, institutions of education, and communities. All my work is with the ethos of inclusion and accessibility. I have also run Workshops in Ireland affiliated with communities and am happy to work in blocks of time further afield on request.

All art works, including commissions, are individually and fairly priced according to size cost and labour ranging from £30 - £2000.
Please do not hesitate to contact me by phone or email for further information and/or discussion about my Art, Tuition and Workshops.

Quotations I am inspired by
“The wind blows where it will; you hear the sound but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going.
That is how it is with all who are born of the spirit”.         John

“Imagination is the great friend of possibility.”
“Real power is the persistent courage to be at ease with the unsolved and unfinished.”
John O Donahue

“From the twisted timber of humanity, nothing straight is ever forged.”
Kant

“The silent worker in us all is the imagination which decrees reality out of chaos and without it my world would be poor "and “understand neither how scarlet can differ from crimson because I know the smell of an orange is nor the smell of a grapefruit.”
Helen Keller

"I did not have to ask my heart what it wanted because of all the desires I have ever known, just one did I cling to for it was the essence of all desire: to know beauty."
John of the Cross

"One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious."
Carl Jung

"Whoever cannot seek the unforeseen sees nothing."
Heraclites

"Psychotherapy has managed to convert anger into anxiety; Anger disrupts the fluent sequence of images and makes awareness awkward."
James Hillman
